like father like son

so i don't know if you've noticed or not, but my son and my husband are a lot alike. they look alike, they have the same sense of humor, occasionally they smell alike, they are best buddies, and i'm pretty sure they are going to enjoy the same things..

dad got a jogging stroller for father's day so mr. cope could run with him.

they both like to wear camo.

they both enjoy being in their underwear...

and they both have the sweetest smiles.

round 1: dad and rice cereal vs cope. this ended with an illegal eye poke by dad.

round 2: mom and rice cereal vs cope. this ended with the cereal bowl in the floor. we just called it a day and decided to wait for the following day to try again.

round 3: mom, dad and rice cereal vs cope. i think this one was a draw..

16.35 pounds of hungry boy

we went for our 4 month appointment today. dad brought mr. cope to my work so the ladies could oogle over him and then we went to the doctor. my little guy is pretty popular at the clinic. we live near a large retirement community and the clinic is at the edge of the community. because of that, the majority of the patients are older folks and they and the staff just love to see a little baby around. all the nurses know cope by name and just love him.. today he peed on the scale but they didn't care. then we had to get our shots again but cope was very brave. dad gave him a pep talk so he did great. cope is in the 75% for weight and 70% for height. we are going to start cereal soon because mr. cope just can't get full! i promise we'll post pics.

cope's favorites...play time bath time scream time

cope has an exersaucer on loan from his buddy evan, which he has been thoroughly enjoying.
mr. fella also got a bumbo a while back and he really likes it. it is perfect for eating his paws.

because he eats his paws so much, we have to wash them really well!
we also wash his chop-chops. great auntie carol got mr. cope a baby tooth brush set, but we haven't gotten to that yet. for now we just scrub twice a day with a wash cloth.

last but not least, mr. cope has discovered his vocal cords, which he is awfully fond of. he is getting so big.. he'll be 4 months old soon. we'll let you know his stats when we go to the doctor next week...

dad's first father's day

so last year on father's day, we found out that i was pregnant.. so i guess technically last year was steve's first father's day, but he was only the father to a teeny tiny baby who had just started growing in my tummy, and this year he is father to a kicking, smiling, screaming, pummeling sweet sweet little man, so we will count this as his first. we had a great day.

we got up and went to the park downtown where daddy ran and mommy and cope walked. mom and cope saw lots of creatures. then we had tacos at el charrito for breakfast (the best breakfast tacos in the universe).. if you don't know what a breakfast taco is, i feel really really sorry for you and you should come and visit us soon so we can school you. then we all took a little cat nap together in our bed and swam in the pool. it was a great day and we enjoyed each other's company a whole bunch. my son has the best dad in the world and i beam every time i see them together. mr. cope is so lucky! and so am i.

swimming!

mr. cope went swimming for the first time last weekend. he was a little overwhelmed because there were some bigger kids at the party we were at, but i think he enjoyed himself.

he and dad waited patiently in the grotto for the playboy bunnies, but they never came.
so this weekend we went to downtown austin and walked around lady bird lake.. we checked out the fountains, but mr. cope was a little too sleepy to play...

then today, we blew up the pool that ms. barbara bought him and he went to town! he loves summer as much as his mom.
