big boy haircut

my pal has been looking a little unkempt lately. i trimmed above his ears a few months back and that held us over, but we finally broke down and gave him a haircut.

auntie carole gave him his first haircut! she and cope are big pals since she came when he was born, so he didn't mind that much at all.

it also helped that dad was there to entertain cope with his favorite toys and books.. he looks like a little man now! both adorable and heartbreaking. my pal is growing so fast!

christmas prep

it's mr. cope's first christmas and we've been busy getting things ready.

he picked out a tree and helped mama trim it.

but could care less about santa other than petting his beard. i'm sure he'll change his mind after he figures out what santa does for a living. we'll keep you updated.

deer hunting

cope loves dad's deer grunt..

mr. cope got his first real taste of deer season when daddy had his boys in town to hunt. nana shanda came the week before turkey day to hang out with cope and keep the boys knee deep in pecan pie and chicken and rice. cope took some vacation days from work to stay home with nana.

they had a big time and my husband gained 5 pounds, just in time for thanksgiving.

we are back! we had a ball in jesup and before that nana and cousin pat and uncle sherod had been in town.. we'll update you on that shortly, but for now.. my pal is recovering from his travel!

my pal is still in the camo and bulldog mode (here after he ate a biter biscuit)

and my pal was so worn out that he fell asleep like this! we pulled his sweet hamhocks out from under him and he didn't even flinch! he is such a good traveler. more details soon!

9 months old!

mr. cope was showing off for dr. brister yesterday. he told her how he had been sleeping thorough the night for months and months (usually in an uncomfortable position and that he had 2 teeth (look hard). he crawled all over the office, grabbed her stethoscope, sat like a big boy on the scale, and hollered when he got his flu shot. dad wanted to show mr. cope that big boys sometimes have to get shots so he got his flu shot too.. my pal is in the 45-55th percentile for all of his parameters.. he weighs 20.2 pounds, stands 28 1/2 inch tall, and has a 17 3/4 inch head (not as big as his dad's at that age, i'm sure!). when it was all done, dad gave his best bud some milkers and he was happy as could be! we got to hang out at home for a while before mom had to go to work and it was a blast. mr. cope is the best little patient.

west point

so a few weeks ago we went to west point for dad's 10 year college reunion. we stayed in connecticut at cope's pal nick's grandparents' house. cope had a ball!

we had lobster..

and watched lots of west point fanfare.. i can't believe steve wore that uniform every day.

army actually won the football game and we had a great time at the carlsons' house. new york was beautiful and west point was something to see.
